PERSBERICHT (nederlands)
COM.POST is a workshop and concertserie
'Prancing around on the post-digital compost heap of contemporary music'

The workshop consists of an opportunity to work in our space for one week and to use all the facilities we have available: space, stage, (recording)equipment, guesthouse, but also f.i. contacts with other musicians and artists. We ask our participants to research the concept of COMPOSITION in the broadest sense of the word and encourage them to collaborate with visual artists, performers etc.

Presentation:
The COM.POST workshop-serie exists of 6 performance-nights.
We want to offer the participants, but also the audience a total-package. That's why an event at DE PLAYER usually contains several layers like: diner, film, lectures, installations etc. This way we can show our audience the proces of research and composing by the participants.
The COM.POST presentations can look like this:
–a sound-installation by an artist
–a film or video related to the program
–presentation of the composition made for the workshop
–sideprogram: lecture, performance etc.
–scenografy of the space by images, set, light
- food

more about the project:
We ask the participants to compose a piece especially for this workshop. It will be performed during the presentation-event at the end of the week. We are also planning on putting out a release of all the pieces, at our own label 'drop of blood-records'. This COM.POST-release will contain sound, image and background information. At the moment we are already making a vinyl/magazine (BIGMAG) wich can be seen as a blue print of our foundation. (see www.big-mag.nl)
The goal of COM.POST is to be a workshop, stage and soundgallery. This way a hybrid, dynamic space evolves where things can be produced, presented and consumed. Both the artist/musician and the visitor are offered a total-pakkagedeal: there is room for research and experiment and this proces is presented at a stage in a highly accesible and communicative way.
For the concept of the workshop we have formulated a few anchorpoints, these are to be used as handles, definately not as a restraint in any way. 50 Years after the 'Poème Electronique' of Varèse, Xenakis and Le Cobusier we look at the situation in the world of contemporary composed music regarding sound and image, space and performance. Is it possible to create another new vision of the future using (new?) technologies and what is the positions of the analog instrument in this constellation? How important is image and performance and how do you communicate with the audience? We ask our participants to research the concept of COMPOSITION in the broadest sense of the word and encourage them to collaborate with visual artists, performers etc.
